Is Jack Sock the Future of American Tennis?

Since the departure of Andy Roddick from the tennis scene, the American men have struggled greatly in competing at the highest level. John Isner has proven to be very disappointing, and a consistent 3rd round loser. Donald Young has struggled to find success outside of the US Open, and Ryan Harrison (who beat Milos Raonic today) has been plagued with injuries. Recently, the focus has shifted to Jack Sock. The young man from Nebraska has failed to differentiate himself from his fellow American mediocre players, so far in his career. He has earned a ranking in the 20s, and consistently loses in the 2nd or 3rd round at Majors. At the Olympics, he put in a dismal individual effort losing in the first round to Taro Daniel. So far in the US Open, Sock has looked strong. However, he meets up with Marin Cilic next, and unfortunately looks destined for another third round exit. Only time will tell, but it looks like Sock isn’t too different from all the other guys. The US needs it, but who is the next male American tennis star? Stevie Johnson? Francis Tiafoe? Jack Sock? I hope (awesome name, cool dude), but I’m not so sure.
