Wilfried Zaha is Sensational

I am a Crystal Palace fan. As odd as it may seem that a kid from the United States chose to fully support a gritty “yoyo” club from South London, it is true. I have watched just about every match in the Premier League (as painful as it has been at times) for the Eagles this season, as well as most of their matches each of the last 3 seasons, when I elected to dedicate myself to be a loyal supporter. While it has been a disappointing season for Palace on the whole, it has certainly not been for Wilfried Zaha. The 24 year old now Ivorian international has enjoyed a very interesting career. Born not far from Selhurst Park, Zaha grew up in the Crystal Palace Academy and eventual first team before moving to Manchester United in a highly publicized move. However, the then 20 year old Zaha struggled greatly before re-joining Palace. For the past few seasons in the Premier League, Zaha has been a good starter for the Eagles, yet did not produce as much, or receive the same love as his highly skillful winger across the field, Yannick Bolasie. Yet, when Bolasie made the big money move to Everton this summer, the burden on Zaha increased. However, the addition of Andros Townsend was aimed to ease that burden. The problem is that for most of the season (until recently when he has been superb) Townsend was very poor. For that matter, most of the team was not playing at a Premier League level. Except Wilfried Zaha. Wilf has been absolutely incredible for the duration of the season. Brilliant pace, paired with an aggressive attacking mindset have been skills that he has always possessed. The key has been the increase in end product (both assists and goals). Pair that with his extraordinarily strong attitude and burning desire for his club, and you have a special player. Numerous rumors have circulated about the interest in other clubs in Zaha, and it will be extremely difficult for Palace to keep him this summer. However, the sole focus remains on Palace avoiding relegation. In the mean time, enjoy Wilfried Zaha because he is having a special season and is a truly delightful player.
